Paris is famous for its bread and pastry, but the city also does a great job on producing some mouth-watering chocolate too. If you are planning a trip to Paris, France, then you must not forget to spend a good chunk of your time indulging in some of the best pastries and chocolate around the city.

Since locals know best, I decided to leave it up to the experts and booked a 3-hour Chocolate and Pastry Walking Tour using my GetYourGuide app for both myself and French friend Morgane. Even Morgane, who lived in Brest, but visits Paris often, had never been to many of the places we visited and nearly fell over from all the deliciousness that presented itself to us. But don’t just take my word for it, click play on the video above and watch as our facial expressions tell all.

Now as a sweet expert (at least I tell myself I am), I have listed below the chocolate and pastry shops I visit in this video in order of my liking, starting with the best:

Pierre HerméPierre Heremé macaroon

Vogue named Pierre Hermé the Picasso of pastry chefs, and I seriously can’t argue with that. If you like macaroons, or even if you don’t, you will enter a world of pure bliss with a bite of one of Pierre’s famous macaroons. I tried several, but my favourite was definitely the rose and lychee macaroon.

Patrick RogerPatrick Roger Chocolate

If you want to truly experience gourmet chocolate, head on over to Patrick Roger. Not only is each chocolate unique in flavour but the presentation is also one to marvel at. Some of the chocolate is so pretty that you don’t even want to eat it…who am I lying of course you do…but it’s pretty damn beautiful. I would highly recommend trying the jasmine chocolate if you’re into floral. It’s divine!

PoilâneBest Pan au chocolat Paris

If you want a true Parisian experience, then you must try a pan au chocolat from Poilâne. The bread and pastry sold here are freshly baked every morning on property. Not only does it smell heavenly in this shop, but biting your teeth into the fresh bread is an experience in itself. I dare you to not eat more than one pan au chocolat.

La Maison du ChocolatLa Maison du Chocolat Chocolate Eclair

If you enjoye almond and hazelnut praliné, La Maison du Chocolat has quite a few for you to try out. However, the chocolate eclair I had at this shop was the best eclair I’ve ever tasted. I would highly recommend trying. I’m actually salivating as I write this.

Arnaud LarherBest Macaroons from Paris France

Although this shop offers macaroons, pastry and chocolate, I have to say I enjoyed their jam the most! I could have eaten a whole jar with a spoon.

Seriously though, all of these shops are worth a visit, especially if its that time of month ladies. These shops are basically the solution to PMS…take note gentlemen.
