This is MY Canada! My Home and Native Land

This is MY Canada! My Home and Native Land

By Kristen

I’d like to begin this post by saying how much I love Canada. No matter where I travel in the world, I will always call Canada home.

A bunch of Canadian travel bloggers have come together to partake in a “travel blog roulette.” Basically, we are sharing why we love Canada so that you beautiful travellers can be inspired to visit our amazing country. It’s not hard to come up with reasons why I love Canada, but it is difficult to narrow my selection down to five.

Camping

Skinny Dipping in Algonquin Park, Canada

No camping trip is complete without going skinny dipping.

Canadians love to camp! It is possible that this is due to the fact that we love our short summer months and go ape crazy as soon as we can wear a t-shirt and shorts outside. It may also be due to the fact that there are more than 40 national parks in Canada or that we simply like to jam out around the campfire with a beer in one hand and a roasted weenie in the other.

Embracing the 4 Seasons

The magical Valle de Fantomes in Saguenay, Quebec.

Canada changes seasons like Taylor Swift changes boyfriends…frequently!  Canada has winter, spring, summer and fall. However ,the climate and intensity of these seasons varies across the country.  It’s a wonderful sight to see flowers blooming, the sun shining, leaves turning and snow falling.  One thing for sure is Canadians know how to embrace each season, even winter! From Quebec City to Ottawa, there are festivals to celebrate -30 degrees Celsius weather. As long as you dress the part, these two cities will prove to you that there is no need to hibernate during the coldest season of the year.

Nature

British Columbia

Beautiful British Columbia! Thank you to Alicia Taggio of My Life Untethered for this photo.

From white-dipped mountains and wide rivers to polar bears and killer whales, Canada is breathtaking and diverse. Are you packing your bags yet?

Adventure

Snow shoeing in Saguenay, Quebec

Snow shoeing may look easy but it’s quite the adventure getting up after taking a tumble.

CN Tower Edge Walk

The CN Tower EdgeWalk is a great way to face your fear of heights.

If you’re a thrill seeker, Canada is a great country to get your adrenaline pumping. Whether you choose ice climbing, heli-skiing/boarding, wakeboarding, dog sledding, or snoe showing, you’re in for an adventure.  You can ever face your fear of heights and do the CN Tower EdgeWalk in Toronto.

Peace & Love

Friendly Canadians

Just a bunch of friendly Canadians.

All Canucks want to be your friend. Really!  Canadians are known to be a very friendly and hospitable people. Canada is very multicultural due to the fact that it is an immigrant friendly country following a live and let live philosophy. YOU + ME = BFF!

I could go on and on listing all of the reasons why you should visit this breathtaking country, but instead I’m passing the tourch on to my good friend and blogger Aaron Turpin of Lost and Found. Be sure to follow the hashtag on Twitter #MyCanada to stay posted on what other amazing things Canada has to offer!

Now, a tribute to Canadian musical talent brought to you by my good friend Nikki Lemonbeat!

Have you been to Canada? What do you love most about the country?

Love this. There are so many great things about Canada. For me summer isn't here until I've spent some time around a campfire - hopefully making s'mores.

I'm moving from Ireland and I'm pretty sure that I will be flying into Toronto. I haven't booked any flights yet though, just in case my visa doesn't come through (in which case I'll just try again next year!) Thanks so much, so many Canadians have said that to me . You guys are just so friendly :D

I love Canada for its wild places - and the fact that you can find adventure so close to many major cities.

I'll be (hopefully) moving to your beautiful country in the next couple of months, mostly for the reasons you've mentioned above. This post has gotten me all excited now! :) I just hope my visa comes through!
