Hundreds of bloggers and vloggers from around the world gathered in Toronto, Ontario during the first week of July to attend TBEX North America 2013. What exactly is TBEX? TBEX (Travel Blogger Exchange) is the world’s largest gathering of travel bloggers, writers, and new media content creators. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre was home to the large event which brought in 1300 travel enthusiasts who are globe trotting and blogging for a living as well as other industry professionals such as: destinations, public relations, travel companies, and brands.
The event consisted of two full days of discussion panels covering everything from how to build partnerships with large brands to creative pitching to how to make travel videos. Perhaps, the most useful and powerful panels of all was by Matador CEO Ross Borden on how travel bloggers and journalists can work more effectively and transparently with DMOs and travel brands. You can check out the audio from Ross’s panel discussion here. TBEX wasn’t just about workshops and discussion panels, it was also about networking and finally meeting bloggers you’ve been virtual friends with for years, in person! There were also a few awesome parties held by Diamond PR, Matador, Expedia, Toronto Travel Massive, just to name a few. It was an inspiring, motivating and affective few days with new and old friends.
The day following TBEX, a few of us travel vloggers and bloggers decided to get together and go on a little excursion in Toronto. Fellow YouTube content creator and travel enthusiast Louis Cole of Fun for Louis and Food for Louis as well as Nadine Sykora of Hey Nadine, Mike Corey of Kick the Grind, Brock Groombridge of Backpack with Brock, Jessie Festa of Jessie on a Journey, Erika Wiggins of The Active Explorer and Clint Johnston of TripHackr had a good time exploring some of my favourite places in Toronto. From Centre Island to Kensington Market, this is Travel Vloggers Do Toronto!
