Travelling with Your Best Friend

Positively Cleveland

When you’re in a relationship, it’s wonderful to spend time with that person you love, but it’s also important to have independent adventures as well. For me, my solo trips are what has made my 10-year and counting relationship so strong. How? Having your own solo adventures teaches you more about trust, commitment, sacrifice and most importantly, it gives you time to reconnect with yourself.

Not only are solo trips important, but so are trips with best friends. Don’t get me wrong, Siya is definitely my best friend, but I’m referring to an all girls or boys trip. A month ago, my best friend Ashley and I decided to leave our husbands at home and go on a girls only trip to Cleveland, Ohio for the weekend. Why Cleveland? Why not!

I’m always up for exploring places people may overlook because you never know what you may find. Cleveland turned out to be pretty awesome, especially for those who enjoy active outdoor adventure. Out first day consisted of jumping on the bed, exploring a bit of the city, eating delicious food, drinking interesting beer and kayaking. Not specifically in that order 😉

Our second day in Cleveland was spent exploring markets, riding weird bicycles, extreme biking and taking part in an annual night ride.

Our last day was spent walking and biking in forests, hugging trees and riding trains.

After watching these videos, it’s evident that Ashley and I had an awesome time exploring this American city. More importantly, we got to spend some much needed quality time together. Some of the best memories you can ever make with your best friend is when travelling together. It doesn’t even have to be far or for a long period of time. When you explore new places and try new things, these are the memories that stick out the most when you reflect on your life and what better person to bring along for the ride than your bestest buddy.

Have you travelled with your best friend?

Where did you go? What did you do?

  • Spent Enjoyable days with Best Friend. It was a very valuable piece of advice. Very well written. Your observation is right on the mark. Wonderful article. I guess I could add that a true friend will never hurt your feelings intentionally. So thanks for sharing it with us.

  • It’s great to travel with people and alone for different reasons. For team building and quality time, a best friend or a group is amazingly enjoyable. I travel a great deal and I have done mostly all of it alone but sometimes it is really nice to share it with other(s)!

A trip to Ohio, why not is the right answer! A trip anywhere other than what one is comfortable with and familiar makes appreciating people and places that much more meaningful. Happy travels, keep blogging, I can see you are a natural at it.
