Top 5 Things to Do in Jasper

Throughout my travels around the world, I am frequently asked questions about Canada from other travellers. Embarrassingly, I’ve had to tell them that even though I was born and raised in Canada, and have spent the last 10 years “hopscotching the globe,” I had yet to explore my own country. After asking other avid Canadian travellers if they have explored their home and native land, I quickly realized that I wasn’t the only one lacking Canada travel experience.

Why is it that we consider “travelling” buying a plane tickets to a far away land? Why do we ignore what’s in our own backyard?!

So, this year, I’ve made it a goal to see more of my country.

My first trip of 2014, took me to Jasper, Alberta for the Jasper in January Festival, and I quickly realized why many of my Ontario born friends went from visiting the west of Canada to living there. Jasper is a small town, but has the power to leave a strong impression on you. From the 360 degree panoramic view of the Rocky Mountains to the purifying air that fills your lungs.

What I quickly learned upon arriving in Jasper, is the amount of people enjoy the outside instead of hibernating in their homes.  The people of Jasper know how to embrace the cold, and it could be due to the fact that there are many great activities to experience in the negative degree weather.

No matter your age or physical ability, Jasper offers winter activities for everyone.
