Amber Fort in Jaipur is one of the hottest tourist attractions when visiting this part of India. And it’s definitely beautiful, but for me, I appreciate a place even more when I hear about the less known, quirky and interesting stories about the place like…

It’s rumoured that the fort has a ghost of a eunuch who served in the royal court during the time of the Rajput kings. According to local legend, this eunuch was deeply loyal to the queen and protected her fiercely. After his death, his spirit is said to linger in the palace to continue watching over the royal quarters. Some visitors and workers at the fort have reported strange occurrences, like eerie sounds and unexplained cold drafts in certain parts of the fort, especially near the old women’s quarters where the eunuchs once lived.

My second birthday celebration in India. The first one when I turned 24 and I spent 3 months travelling solo across the country. That trip changed me in so many ways, and I feel grateful to be back traveling solo again in the country that taught me so much. The country that is filled with so much magic and plenty of WTF moments.

Faces of Jaipur 🇮🇳 Pt. 1

As I wondered through the town of Amber (better know as Amer) I took in the most beautiful temples dating back to the 17th century, Artistic Havelies, Old Cenotaphs, Mosques and a step well. As I walked, I met the locals, each with a smile, friendly gestures, kindness and curiosity. I love being able to take their photo and show them afterwards, reminding them how beautiful they are. They all had the biggest smile on their face as they looked at themself through my lens.

Today, my friends at @indiaforbeginners arranged a private driver and guide to take me shopping for the afternoon and tour a little around the Pink City of Jaipur. The shopping here did not disappoint! The clothing, textiles, jewellery, home decor, spices and so much more…no wonder this place is famous for shopping!!!

And I’m sure you’re thinking, what about the prices? I bought a sari for $24 USD, a pair of incredible large gold plated handmade large earrings for $20 and 30 beautiful bangled bracelets for $20. So, you be the judge.

As for these dresses (which are from a higher end store), how much do you think they cost ALL together???

It’s the yoga instructor in the background that does it for me 😹😹

He told me that 1 minute of laughing yoga is important at least 4 days a week. So, now I start my morning off with a meow.

PS. This was right after I was doing a downward dog and a MASSIVE Rhesus Macaques Monkey (they can be very aggressive) ran onto the balcony, straight past me (like a foot away) along with an Indian man chasing behind it with a shotgun (and dummy bullets to just scare it apparently but I didn’t know that right away). A moment of madness followed by deep breaths and more asanas. India, the land of contrast. Never a dull moment, that’s for sure! 😂
