Delicious Persian Smoothie Recipe

Welcome to the Hopscotch the Globe Country in a Smoothie video series. In this series, Siya and I teach you how to travel to your favourite country without leaving your own kitchen. In other words, we teach you how to turn the flavours of a country into a smoothie!

In the above video, we take the flavours of Iran and turn them into a Persian themed smoothie. So, grab your blender and ingredients and let’s travel to Iran. Passport…not required!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup of kefir
  • 1 big hand full of pomegranate seeds
  • 3-6 dates (the more you add, the sweeter your smoothie will become)
  • 1/2 cup of de-shelled pistachios
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon of rose water
  • 1 teaspoon of concentrated pomegranate juice
  • 4-5 mint leaves
  • 1 pinch of saffron for your garnish
  • 1 Magic Bullet or blender of choice

Step-by-Step

Take your magic bullet and blend your pistachios and walnuts together until you’ve created a powder like consistency.

Then, mix in the kefir, pomegranate seeds, dates, rose water, pomegranate juice and mint leaves. Blend all ingredients for 20 seconds or until blended into smooth consistency.

Once blended, pour your smoothie mix into a glass of your choice. Add your saffron and 6-10 pomegranate seeds on top of your smoothie for a garnish. Close your eyes and take a sip. Welcome to Iran!
