Back in May, I wrote a post about Choosing the Right Hostel/Guesthouse. I wrote about how the importance of having a nice, clean, comfortable place to come back to is necessary when traveling; and it doesn’t have to break your bank account either. I shared a few different ways of finding a great hostel or guesthouse, but one method I did not mention is searching online.
The internet is a crazy place and if you aren’t careful, you can definetly get lost in cyber space. It takes time to find websites that you can rely on to give you the best travel advice. However, when it comes to finding a great hostel/guesthouse online, I know I can rely on Hostelworld to help me find a great place to stay for the price I want to pay.
There are over 25,000 hostels in more than 180 countires to choose from. You can choose from hostels, bed and breakfasts, hotels, apartments and my favorite, camping! Each place is ranked based soley on other travelers reviews, which you can read in full for yourself. There are also various pictures of the hostels, guesthouses, etc, as well as a the different rates, map directions, information about the place, area it is in and list of facilities. Looking for a hostel on Hostelworld is great for a traveler who likes to plan ahead and find a place to stay that has been highly recommended by other travelers. It’s also a great way to earn Skype credit because everytime you book with Hostelworld, they give you up to 60 minutes of free credit from Skype.
Hostelworld is not just a database to find a place, the website also includes information on flights, travel insurance, tours, itineraries, etc. You can also sign up and become part of the online community of travelers where you can post pictures and videos as well as review hostels you’ve visited.
