Turn Your Dreams Into Reality, But Remember To Enjoy The Journey

Turn Your Dreams Into Reality, But Remember To Enjoy The Journey!

There is nothing like setting short and long term goals and see them come alive right before your eyes.  Of course you need a lot of hard work, determination, passion and perseverance.  If you have all of those, add in a little bit of luck-meets-opportunity, and you are on top of the world.

It’s important to find something you really love to do in life and nourish that love with every morsel of your being. The other day, a friend told me a quote that I absolutely love:

“Don’t ask what the world needs; ask what makes you come alive and then do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

A great boost of motivation is to tell others what your goals are.  Tell someone who you want to be and what you want to do to leave your mark on this planet. When others know your goals and aspiration, it becomes more real and gives you an extra boost of motivation to run with your dream and make them come alive.  I make small goals as well as large long-term goals in each area of my life all of the time.  When it comes to my career, I wouldn’t settle for anything that didn’t fill me with absolute joy, passion and gratification.  My dream is to be an adventure travel host and successful actress.  These two goals are huge, but I believe it will happen because I will make it happen. It’s great to have other people believe in you, but it’s necessary to believe in yourself and know you can do and be whatever you want.

We live in a world of possibilities.

I want you to take a moment right now and picture yourself doing exactly what you love, regardless of money or anyone else. Now take that thought and start coming up with the ways of how you are going to turn it into reality…your reality. Picture yourself achieving that goal and becoming exactly who you envision yourself to be.  Feels great, doesn’t it! Well the good news is it’s going to happen for you, but you have to let it. I don’t mean just sit around your house and wait for an opportunity to come pounding on your door.  You need to work hard for what you want and when doors of opportunities do open, walk in without hesitation.

Take chances, and see it where it leads you.

I often have people say to me that they are inspired and jealous of my travels and experiences I’ve had in life.  The only reason why I have done so many wonderful things is because I wanted them to happen and because of this desire, I found the ways to turn my dreams into reality.  If you want to travel the world, do it!  The only person that is stopping you is yourself.  You have plenty of the tools and resources you need right here on this website, and you can always email me with any questions. Each and every one of you has different life circumstances, but regardless of what those are, if you want to travel, you can find ways to do so. What is important is that YOU make it happen if you really want something.  Find a way that turns you in the direction of where you want to go, keep following that path; never stop following that path.  If you have your goals in mind at all times, you will find ways to fulfill them.  For those of you who want to travel, but are coming up with every excuse in the book of why you cannot, go right now and tell your friends and family you are going to save some money, book a plane ticket and see the world.  Seriously, go!  Telling others will give you a large boost at the beginning, and then after that, it’s up to you to continue to self-motivate.

I know you can do it!

One extra, and very important, thing to remember is the journey of reaching your goals is the most enjoyable part.  It is important to remind yourself about this from time-to-time.  The journey is the part when you learn the most about yourself and others.  Although reaching your goals is amazing, enjoying every step towards it is called life.  If you’re not fully enjoying and present in the journey, life will flash before your eyes!  When you reach your goals, you may no be as satisfied as you thought you would be.  Why?

The journey is actually when you are the most alive.

If you don’t appreciate the journey, how can you appreciate the destination?

What are your short and long-term goals?  Leave a comment below to share.  I’d love to hear about them.

  • Hey Kristen!

Great article, I’d love to see a funny video of you about this topic!
My long-term goals are a satisfying career, stable relationships and traveling the world.
I’ll try to set up an excel sheet now to see how I can realize my dreams simultaneously. So far I’ve done it by studying abroad – which my boyfriend doesn’t like too much. 😀
    Congratulations on your engagement!
