WE BOUGHT LAND IN COSTA RICA!

Yup. @siyazarrabi and I purchased a piece of land in paradise. Truly.

We will be heading to Costa Rica next month to visit our land and start the design and build process. We'll also be exploring the country, getting to know the place we'll be calling home. I am SO EXCITED! It's pretty much all I think about. I can't wait to share the adventure with you all.

300,000 YOUTUBE SUBSCRIBERS!

Yesterday, we hit our year end goal of 300,000 YouTube subscribers...and nearly 2 months early.

I started my YouTube channel back in 2010 when I uploaded my first vlog from my solo trip to London, England. No one was really making travel vlogs at this point...including me. I only posted a couple more than stopped until 2012 when I posted a 2-part documentary I filmed/produced/edited with @siyazarrabi back during our first big trip together in 2007. We filmed that one on tape and it took us 1 yr to edit 13 hours of footage.

Then besides the random audition videos of me doing things like tae kwon do moves (yup I have my black belt), dressing up as disney princesses for YTV (scored this gig) and hosting gigs for shows like Angry Planet (which I also got), I wasn't very consistent with my uploads. BTW, you can still find some of these auditon videos on my channel.

It wasn't until later on in 2012, when I uploaded the trailer for my "So You Wanna Travel the World" series. No one else was doing travel tips and advice videos on YouTube yet. I had so much fun creating these videos and I still do today.

In 2014, the "Kristen Sarah" channel became "Kristen and Siya," after we spent 8 days filming daily vlogs together in Finland. Today, we've added a pup and child to the mix.

Siya and I are often asked how we've grown our channel to what it is today. As you can see, many years, adapting and changing our style and content as we change and grow ourselves, consistency (just kidding we aren't great with this but it really is key), passion and constantly learning and developing new skills (we went from tape to flying drones).

If you want something bad enough and you put the work in and persevere, it will come.

THE EVOLUTION OF A RELATIONSHIP

Relationships ebb and flow. They aren't forever set in the honeymoon stage. You don't always feel in love. It's completely natural to feel in love and then not so much. If you understand that feeling not so in love at certain points is normal and does not mean the end, you push through, you learn, you grow and you come out even stronger as a couple afterwards.

It's okay to want time away and experiences just for yourself. Time apart is good for your soul and the future of your relationship. It's okay to not like everything about your partner or have certain things annoy you. Those will be the things you'll look back on, remember the most and probably laugh about.

After 16 years of being together, I've learned that what's most important in making a relationship not just work but thrive is understanding that you're both a work in progress. As long as you both support and encourage each other to keep learning and growing as a couple and as individuals, the bond will keep evolving and getting stronger. Oh, and humor. You gotta have good laughs together.
