Have you ever wanted to travel with us?
I don't just mean by clicking play on one of our YouTube videos, but physically explore somewhere with us? Well, now you can! May 25th - June 3rd of this year, we are holding our first Hopscotch the Globe trip to Guatemala in partnership with Vivid Roots. Us along with 19 of you will be heading to the Central American country for a 10-day adventure (2 travel days and 8 full days of travel). Not only will we swim in waterfalls, explore Mayan caves, spend a day on a tropical island and indulge in food and culture, but we will be spending 3 days giving back to a local community.
One of our big goals for 2018, is to create sustainable impacts on the places we visit. The world has given us so much and now is our turn to give back. In Guatemala, we will be working directly with two schools in the rural municipality of San Jacinto, Chiquimula and installing new plumbing systems in their bathrooms & washing stations. This allows each student access to proper sanitation and hygiene in the school environment, keeping them healthy and improving their attendance and overall education. In addition, we will make improvements to the schools' roof, doors, windows, and floors. For those 19 adventurers who choose to spend 8 epic days with us, ten percent of their trip fee will go directly to this project. We will be purchasing supplies with the money from a local hardware store, so every single cent will be going back to the community.
My most memorable and rewarding travel experiences have been when I've given back. It's a whole other way of seeing and experiencing the world and connecting with people and places. It's life changing.

Why Guatemala?
Siya and I spent our buddymoon (honeymoon but with friends) in Guatemala and fell in love with it. It's a place we are so glad we travelled to with friends because we got to share some of our favourite travel memories together. You can watch our Guatemala vlog series here (FYI we won't be hiking any volcanos this time around). Also, the food. Enough said. The team at Vivid Roots who is helping us to organize the trip and will be joining us, are big fans of Guatemala too, which is why they shaped their entire travel company around it.
What's on the itinerary?
Day 1 - 3: Dive Into the Culture in Antigua!
We will explore beautiful Antigua, a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. We'll learn about the Mayan culture, converse with the locals, learn about the history, taste the delicious cuisine, stroll through town, visit the market and much more. We love Antigua and know you will too!
Day 3, 4 and 5: Create Sustainable Impact in Chiquimula!
Chiquimula is in the highlands of the Sierra Madre and is characterized by a collage of steep mountains, old growth forests, deep ravines, soaring volcanoes, beautiful valleys, and wide open plains. We'll be working directly with two schools in the rural municipality of San Jacinto, Chiquimula and installing new plumbing systems in their bathrooms & washing stations. This allows each student access to proper sanitation and hygiene in the school environment, keeping them healthy and improving their attendance and overall education. In addition, we will make improvements to the schools' roof, doors, windows, and floors. These few days will give you a chance to interact with the community, play in a pick-up soccer game, feast & drink with friends, hop in the back of a truck and adventure through villages, and much more.
Day 6, 7 and 8: Adventure in the Jungle in Rio Dulce!
We'll spend the final three days of the trip adventuring on the Rio Dulce, an incredible river that meanders through the jungle and hosts many adventures! We'll swim in the hot waterfalls, explore the hidden caves, boat across the Rio Dulce into the Caribbean Sea, relax on the beach, snorkel off the Belize Caye's islands, and more! The hotel we will be staying at, Finca Tatin, is deep in the jungle and only accessible by boat. Here you can enjoy the opportunity to kayak on the Rio Dulce, hike throughout the jungle and relax in a hammock on the dock soaking up foreign sounds of the Guatemalan jungle. On one of our last days, we will take a boat from our hotel in the jungle out to a group of private islands in the Caribbean! Where we will spend the day snorkelling at incredible coral reefs and relaxing on the white sandy beaches.
When is it?
We asked you guys and gals in the YouTube community tab what dates work for you. The majority of you said end of May, so that's when we're going! The trip will take place May 25th - June 3rd, 2018.
